The Pectel SQ6M sets the benchmark for high performance engine management systems. Its unique strength lies in it being hugely powerful yet easy to map, using a powerful MPC565 processor coupled to a FPGA that handles all angle-based operations. The end result is that the main processor can run more advanced algorithms giving better transient control, which in turn gives the driver greater feel and feedback.
The SQ6M is capable of fully sequential fueling on engines from one to twelve cylinders, and sequential ignition up to eight cylinders. It has Fly-By-Wire capability, catering for both stepper and DC motors. Ethernet upload and download is standard, and eliminates USB related connection hassles at a considerably higher data rate. Put all of this functionality in one small lightweight box and you have an ECU capable of working with almost any combination of coil, injector, OEM sensor and actuator.
The SQ6M has a standard feature list that exceeds MoTeC in a V-10 application, and does not require expander modules to run a ten cylinder, Fly-By-Wire, or Semi-Automatic Transmission Controls. With dedicated Crank/Cam, dual Wideband, dual Thermocouple, dual Knock Sensors, multiple CAN networks and serial communication ports, 4MB internal Logging, Traction Control, and nearly 50 configurable drivers and sensor inputs, the SQ6M is really a step above the rest.
One very attractive feature of the SQ6M is the ability to control calibration and traction control on the fly. When configured, you will have two switches in the passenger compartment that will allow you to choose between up to 4 completely different calibrations, and up to 7 different traction control settings. You can dictate calibration based on available fuel, and the controller will automatically adjust boost, fuel, and timing settings to the maps associated with that calibration. You can also adjust the amount of wheel slip allowed, from a simple "Wet, Dry, Off" configuration to a multi-level slip percentage based configuration. You can even configure the inputs to select the calibration and base it on some type of 0-5V analog sensor, such as an E-85 fuel sensor, temperature or pressure sensor, etc. The only limits are your imagination.
Fly-By-Wire is included, but disabled unless requested. Dual-Clutch Paddle Shifted Transmission Control is available upon request and charged based on implementation costs. Transmission control is NOT standard on any Pectel Controllers.
Please see the SQ6M12 for a comparable Autosport Terminated controller that can control sequential ignition up to 12 cylinders. 2008-2010 cars should use SQ6M12 as they require 10 sequential ignition drivers- but they can optionally be wired in Wasted Spark and use an SQ6 or SQ6M
